Default What part is this?

It's in the rear driver side just behind the air ride compressor (one on the passenger side too) seem to bolt directly to the frame, trying to help out a friend identify it. Couldn't find it on Gm parts diagrams

ummm... body mount?

it's a long bolt that goes through some hard rubber that holds the body to the frame... there are about 6 or 8 of them I believe.

is this from a '08 LTZ? looks kinda older.

I also see an e-brake cable in the background as well.

The parking brake cable is actually the washer fluid line for the rear wiper.

Yes actually it's a 2008 LTZ Suburban as well, the reason why it looks older is because it's a canadian car that seem 4 winters and a decent amount of salt.

The one on the passenger side, is cracked and he figured it need replacing.
How much of a difference in ride handling would this make when changed if any?

He was under the truck the other day and noticed it when hooking up the trailer but hasn't noticed a difference in drive quality at all.

Sabrtooth the google link didn't work for me, I assumed it was a body mount or a bushing of some sort just couldn't find a diagram for it anywhere.

Unless the rubber is really hard, I wouldn't worry about it being cracked.

Default rust

why don't they paint these things fully? my front driveshaft looks like a 20 year old dump with only 50,000 miles on it.

I should have rustoleum painted the whole underside when I bought it...

Same reason they used a cheap head gasket, cheap intake manifold gasket, crappy door handles, low grade electrical wiring, etc.

The motto:"Save he pennies and the dollars will look after themselves" or "Penny-wise, pound foolish" sadly apply in these cases.
On a cheap disposable gas-miser, I could understand short-cuts but one would think that paying over $40K would guarantee that you would get some extra quality for the extra price.
