Exclamation Cannot Reset Oil Life ---%

I have a 2007 Suburban.

I changed the oil and have been trying to reset the oil life remaining. Before I even changed the oil, it displayed "---% oil life remaining" Yes, that's exactly how it was displayed, three dashes followed by the percent symbol and then the "oil life remaining" bit.

Has anyone ever encountered this?

I tried reseting it after I changed the oil. I've tried it by using the DIC and pressing the select/reset button for several seconds. I also tried turning the key to on and stepping on the pedal three times. I've googled and haven't found a thread that references the percentage just being the three dashes without an actual number.

when the ambient temp sensor or compass display has a system problem they display dashes...so maybe there is a problem with the olm system...have the system checked for codes. You will have to check multiple modules so a full function scan tool will be required...a code reader will only read the pcm.

I have access to Tech2Win. I did a full scan of all the modules. The only modules with codes are the BCM with codes related to the suspension, the exhaust solenoid fro the suspension air compressor is dead. Those are the only codes.

But you're right. There's definitely something wrong, but I think it's with the instrument cluster panel.

This is what's weird, using the Tech2Win I was able to run a special function that would let me reset the oil life, but when I went in to run it, the oil life was already at 100%. So, the resets I did worked, but for whatever reason, the IPC is not displaying that value. Any ideas?

Sounds good. I'll do the battery disconnect and report back.

I disconnected the battery for a good long while and it didn't not fix the issue. Oil life remaining still just shows dashes, ---%.
