Default 2000 tracker power steering fluid change

Want to drain the power steering fluid and refill with dexron vi.
Looks like there is a drain plug on the power steering unit,
driver side, front, below the return outlet where the rubber hose is connected.
Anyone use this drain plug, i am not interested in removing any hoses.

I dont know much about that model but draining the pump only changes the fluid in the pump, the hoses & rack & pinion will still have the old fluid in them. There may be a drain on the rack & pinion, im not sure.

Just my 2 cents

It will drain the return line and reservoir tank, just do it every year.

Quess i will remove the return hose from the pwr steer unit return
outlet, it is on the left end, the hose then connects to the return tube that runs under the radiator and then up to the reservoir.

Default Power Steering Fluid update

What if you just cycled the power steering fluid like you do for a radiator flush? Only drain the reservoir. Then replace the reservoir fluid. A partial replacement would provide newer fluid without worrying about leaks or getting air in the system lines.

Default Power Steering Resevoir

The Resevoir has a plastic screen at the fluid level, so you cannot
remove the fluid with a sucksion hose, also do not want to remove the return hose at the bottom of the resevoir. i will get back to it in April, keep the tracker covered up in the garage, still cold in Pennsylvania.

Question Power steering fluid change / flush

? Did you ever get this done ? .

I want to do it on my 2000 2L Tracker, not really wanting to remove the hose and have it drain every where in my nice clean and dry engine compartment .

Comments / suggestions ? .

TIA,

Post Odd Notifications ?

I hope to do this soon, I was looking at the clearance and hope I can squeeze an old style ATF funnel below the reservoir and remove the lower hose, I'm sure it'll make a mess and I try hard to keep my engines clean and dry but this needs doing periodically .

Why do I keep getting notifications when there's no new reply ? .
