Exclamation Dead Pedal & Carpet Removal

Okay, no response to my please for carpet removal help, yesterday I took out both front seats and the lower halves of the rear seats, was able to raise up the carpet a bit and get underneath it for cleaning ut the dead pedal and those black plastic buttons at the top of the carpet prevent me from accessing more accumulated dirt, spooge, spilled coffee, milk shakes and so on .

I tried gently spreading the black plastic dead pedal cover to no avail, I fear I'll break it if I use any more force and I really need to get it up/off/whatever, so much dirt & gravel in the carpet, I want to remove it complete so I can give it a good shampooing .

Also, I need to remove the left foot well cover piece and the special 1/4 turn retaining thing is blocked access by the dead pedal .

Please help ! . I cannot be the only one who's ever done a deep cleaning .

Yesterday asked the previous owner just how deep a stream he'd forded in this car, he said "once the water came up over the hood" ~ now I know why there was water in the gear box.....

for NATE I'm sorry i haven't answered your questions on the carpet! my tracker has had a hard life, and was a very basic model and the carpet is a survivor of at least two floods so I'm not the one to ask the details your requesting

Also for NATE, my Tracker has been garage kept for its entire life. I vacuum the carpet once or twice a year. I have no idea how to remove it. And can you give me a hint what a "dead pedal" is?

The "Dead pedal" is that black hard plastic thing on the left you rest your foot upon .

I think it's possible a previous owner of my red Tracker kept it garaged because the paint is original and in pretty good shape . same with the dash, no cracks .

Certainly they smoked in there like a chimney as _everything_ has a coating of tobacco tar, ugh .

THANK YOU ! .

I don't see how the cover comes off, I don't want to break it .

I've been trying to lift the edges like the other interior parts .

>> I don't see how the cover comes off,

The cover has a clip/slot arrangement at the bottom.

Pull with one finger at the top to pop it loose. Then wiggle it off.
