I change the rear end oil in the pontica car every 25K miles, looks like the 97x requires synthetic and the additive. will it be OK to use this stuff I have even though it's none synthetic?
Your vehicle needs 75W90 in the front and rear axles. So no, you have the wrong grade of oil there. Put the right stuff in it. And put in the correct additive, I would stick to OEM stuff. Rebuilding these components is really expensive so why take chances. It's only $6 per bottle! https://www.gmpartsgiant.com/parts/gm-addt-1052358.html
You said you are changing the oil, not topping it off so you can ignore that. The manual should say where to fill up to. Usually it's to the bottom of the fill hole and that will be around 2 quarts, but it sounds like you're doing your whole driveline. Just buy more than your need and return what you don't use.

come to think of it I actually purchased this oil for the express van that I somehow messed up the distributor.
I'll get the mobil 1 syn. for the 97x. this rear ends case has a complete different bolt pattern compared to the cars 10 bolt is this a 7.5" 10 bolt? so the new paper gasket was also for the express. the original gasket seams reusable.
Iv'e reassembled the rear cover however there is one extra long bolt however I didn't take note of where it was located.
been looking for a emergency brake cable that if I remember correctly is attached to the diff. w/ this longer bolt but didn't see the cable.
wish I took a image before disassembly. been searching the net couldn't find much but this attached image aurther wrote it's a trailVoy notice there isn't a E cable attached to diff.
Thanks for advice TB
the panhard bar on my 97x is alot lower than this image
