Default 2004 TB Instrument Cluster problems?

I have a 2004 TB v6 4x4 LS

I am new to the forum and have a question? I have been having a problem with the temp gage working not working burying itself way past the last numbers on the gage. What I want to know is if I have to replace the cluster, what do I get and where do I get it? Are there any diagrams for this replacement here so I can see how to replace it. If it's the sensor, is there a diagram to find that? Is there anything I should check first before I act on the cluster?

GM had a problem with the stepper motors in their gauges from 03 to 06. They all will eventually go bad. There was also a recall on this. You might still qualify, but they found a way to get out of it on my Trailblazer. Anyway if you can solder, it is an easy fix. The 6 stepper motors can be changed out. I bought them on Ebay for $25.00 and did it myself. You can also exchange your cluster for another one or have yours repaired. The dealer wanted $600.00 so I did it myself.

Thank you for answering oldchevy.

I bought the truck used about a year and a half ago so I didn't know of any recalls. How old is your TB and what did they tell you when you went to get it fixed under the recall?

I looked for the recall but didn't find it. People are complaining because GM never bothered to recall any of the Trailblazers for the instrument cluster problem only other GM trucks.

If you send it in to us for the repair it does include all bulb replacements as well as the stepper motors. There is a lifetime warranty on the gauge movement.
