Unhappy 2007 TB AC with a mind of it's own

About 2 weeks ago I did what I always do after working all day in the high desert heat, I pulled in the driveway and turned off the TB. I expected everything to shut off whe n I opened the door as it has for the last 4 years.

To my amazement, the AC blower/fan stayed on (it got warmer because the motor was not running). I got back in the car and hit of AC off switch... no change. I started the car and hit the on/off switch a couple of times. No change. I sat puzzled with my mind racing what I should do for the next step... suddenly, the blower just shut off. I tuned the car off.

Tonight a mechanic friend of mine did some trouble shooting.
  • the fuse is ok
  • the blower is only getting about 9v
He did find a strange part, (1p) 52416100 (12v 206978376). It has a red, lavender and wire with a strip as input bundled into a clip. The output is a black wire and a purple wire that go to the fan. A couple more characteristics of this part; it's mounted inside the ducting and it has two heat-sinks (one is about 4"x3" and the other is about 4"x2").

The troubleshooting was done with the motor running, AC turned on but not running. When the black and purple wires are wiggled at the heat-sink module, the AC kicked on but was not adjustable (high only) and would not shut off, when after turning off the TB and opening the doors.
