I have seen it happen a few times on blazers. Try tapping on the wiper motor while you are having a problem . If tapping changes the operation of the wipers then there is your problem. Sometimes you can turn them on, tap the motor and it will stop.

I have the same problem with my 98 silverado, except once it rains a bit and i need to go use my wipers they wont respond. I can hear a funny buzzing, and nothing wiping. I'll get out and push down, or pull up on the wiper arm, and it works, temporarily... is a gear stripped, or bad motor? idk, but its a temp fix to just get out and beat around, lol

Default Wiper

I had a 91 Silverado with the same problem. It turned out to be a defective circuit board in the wiper assembly. It is replaceable and I got mine off ebay. Good luck.

sounds like a bad pulse board which is what the guy above was refering to., it is truely a circuit board which controls the speed and time intervals at which the wiper motor turns, that is tucked away behind a plastic cover on the front of the motor fastened by one screw. any auto parts store should have it or be able to get it for around 30 bucks is that i think it cost me. if you are really worried about it you can also get the motor and the pulse board together and not have to worry about anything. good luck

Even though you can get the wiper control module separately (circuit board). We always do the entire assembly because we can get it quicker.

I've got a '96 S-10 that had this same problem, all I did was replace the wiper control module and my wipers started working like they're supposed to.

I remember back in the 90's a lot of people were having this problem with s-10's and blazers, it was always the motor. Replaced that and the problem was fixed.
