Turning right from a stopped position is very tough. Although if moving and accelerating while making right turns it is ok.

Power steering fluid is full, but will occasionally have spotting on garage floor.

Not sure what the issue is, is it worth having fixed or getting rid of vehicle. 155K miles

 

Is it 4wd? If so, is it in 2wd?

 

It is a 2004 Trailblazer LT. It's 2wd and I can change it to 4wd with just a turn of the **** that's by the radio.

No, It's currently on the 2wd option. Haven't used 4wd since the winter.

 

Is there any abnormal tire wear on that side?

 

No, there is no abnormal tire wear.

If I'm backing up to the right, it's incredibly hard to turn the wheel. But if I accelerate even just a little bit, the power steering comes back and all is good. Once I stop accelerating, that's when it's hard to make right turns. There has never been any issues turning left, it's weird. All of the fluid levels are good and have never been low.

 

I'd change the PS pump, bleed it, and try that.

 

Cool, thanks for answering some of my questions about my truck issue. I'll give that a shot.

 

Make sure the drive belt looks like its tight enough . That is handled by the tensioner if it seems loose . Something else to look at .

Did you swap out the PS pump? My '03 just started doing this, difficult to turn, both directions. My local shop told me today they believe it is a rack & pinion assembly issue, and they are giving me an estimate.
