Mounting front license plate bracket
I have a 2024 Trax base model. It came with a stock license plate bracket and screws for mounting on the front bumper. The back side (bumper-facing) is shaped to fit over the projecting design of the bumper. On the middle part of the bumper, if I look carefully, I can see two very tiny impressions - about the size of the very tip of a screw - but apparently not penetrating the bumper … as if to mean “drill holes here for the bracket screws”. These little pits line up exactly with corresponding holes on the bracket itself.
i can’t find anything online or in the owners guide that says to mount the supplied bracket using these small impressions. Is that all it requires? That is, a) drill out the little pits, b) place the bracket, lining up with those holes, and c) use the provided screws to mount the bracket? Is it that simple? The dealer’s service manager won’t tell me how and wants $25 plus tax plus “fees” to do it for me.
Dies anyone out there see these little pit holes on their Trax? Thanks!

Isn't that bumper covered in plastic? I imagine the screws are self tapping or made for plastic, and will turn right through it, and probably go through a hole in the metal behind them. They wouldn't require you to drill holes with a drill, as many states require a front license plate, but many people don't have drills. Feel free to post a picture of the screws and the area you are talking about....
