deactivating the door chime
I been having issues with the sliding door chime since I bought my van 4 years ago. I'm also fed up with paying for repairs as it seems it only last long enough to cover the warranty period. Out of desperation this last time the chime came on I disconnected the plugs off the control modules from behind both sliding doors and the chime stopped. Can I leave the module disconnected and get rid of this issue once and for all without creating another problem?
I can't envision this will cause any other problems...the computer has probably set a "body code" to tell that the connection is open but it shouldn't trigger a check engine light as its not emissions related and is only informational for the tech that might or might not be fixing it sometime in the future. Drive on and enjoy your new found silence!
So far so good. No more chime and the only warning code is for the gas cap. Another one of those codes that has een around for over two years. Yes,I have changed the gas cap and even checked the fill up hose for cuts and loose clamps.
Im passed the scotch brite stage. The contact have been cleaned and even replaced. Also the pins wireschave been soldered and sealed which is a fix that has helped many, but not me! I have thought about getting rid of it,but it's paid for and has only 78k on it.

What he says is a good idea. It should help you and hopefully fix the problem. There is a few other things you can try but that is a good place to start.
