Default Signal light proplems on "01" Venture Ext.

I just noticed the other day that my right turn signal goes nuts when my foot is on the brake. Instead of the rear signal bulb flashing by itself, the brake and lower tail bulb flash alternately. Also the back up bulb iluminates slightly. I also notice a dimming and flickering of other bulbs in the left rear light assy. I also see the dim and flicker in the front side signal bulbs. If my foot is off the brake it's ok. All the bulbs seem to work ok. All filliments light when testing them with my foot off the brake. The van was in the shop last month and I they put plugs and wires on it. All I can think is something they took apart wasn't tightend properly and theres a bad ground. Any other ideas befor I bring it in? I'm sure they won't admit to a loose connection. TIA

PS: I just checked an found out it also screws up with the lights turned to on but my foot OFF the brake.

HI,
Ur problem is very similar to the one in my brothers van. Its a 01 venture. He was experiencing the exact same problem and after bit of troubleshooting I found the connecter on the the left taillight burnt.I sought of bypassed the connector by pushing the wires by extending them straight into the bulb holders about a month ago and it appears to behave since then.

Hope this will help you if you havent checked this part yet.

Yup ! My venture had the same problem first on the drivers side then on the passangerside. when I finaly dug into it and checked it out it was the plug conection to the bulb assembly that was burnt. (As soon as I unpluged it I could smell it.) The Local Chevy dealer whanted something like $65 a piece for new plugs. I got some female crimp conecters cut off the plugs and pushed them onto the conectors in the bulb assembly. Don't know how long it will last but it only cost $5.

Exact same problem. In addition, I was getting a Service Traction System warning on the message panel. Sure enough, one of the female sockets in the right tail light harness was cooked. As a temp patch, I shaved a piece of thin copper wire and slipped it in to the enlarged socket. A squirt of liquid solder might work too. (Evidently, the TCS warning was because it detected the brake light on--caused by the short--, yet the wheels were spinning normally.)
Cost of repair: $0. Thanks Chevrolet Forum Members! Confirmation of this solution at http://www.automotiveforums.com/t303...bs_light_.html
