1976 Chevrolet C65 Fire Truck Is a Five-alarm Find

Check out this vintage Chevrolet C65 fire truck and just try and keep your inner child from coming out. We dare you!
Admit it. When you were a kid, all it took was the sight of a fire truck to get you all excited. Heck, you probably even get a little rise when you see one today. There’s just something undeniably cool about those giant red rigs. Maybe it’s because they’re giant. Or red. Or perhaps it’s the sirens and fire-killing hose and massive ladder. But all of those things get us jazzed up every time we see one. Especially if it’s a cool, vintage ride like this 1976 Chevrolet C65 fire truck that we spotted at Mecum Auctions.
Old fire trucks are quickly becoming popular collector items, and for good reason. Outside of the fact that they’re an undeniably cool slice of nostalgia, they’re actually cheap. And pretty easy to find. And since firefighters don’t exactly cruise around all the time, they also generally have precious few miles on the clock. There’s just one tiny little problem, of course. Unless you have a big piece of land and a large shop, where the heck do you store it?
But little concerns like those are just what we like to call logistics. We’re actually in the process of figuring out where we can store this Chevrolet C65 because we just feel like we need it. Maybe it’s the squared-off, chiseled looks that have us fit to be tied. Or perhaps it’s our inner child. But just imagine how fun it would be to blow off work on a stressful afternoon and hop into this bad boy.
Talk about relief. And on the weekends, you could cruise around and make the day of every kid you come across. Then they could grow up and, like us, dream of the day they can own their very own fire truck!
