Corvette Z06 Dunks on Lamborghini on the Roads of Dubai
Over six years ago, a pair of unsuspecting lads filmed themselves losing twice to a Corvette. Redditors revisit the classic.
If there’s anything we’ve heard about the Corvette versus the competition over the years, it’s how America’s sports car was (allegedly) nowhere near the likes of Ferrari, McLaren, and Porsche. Perhaps that was true in some long-forgotten day, but since the C5 era, the Corvette has more than proved its worth on the track, and beyond.
And just to prove the point, a Redditor recently dug up and posted a video from YouTuber K F, featuring two lads in their Lamborghini finding themselves going up against a C6-era Z06.
“A wise man once said ‘there is always a car faster than yours,'” wrote Redditor Ct63084. And this is definitely the case here in this video from 2013. Rolling upon the roads of Dubai, the lads happen upon the silver Z06 just chilling in regular traffic.
“My grandpa always told me Corvettes were ‘80% of a Ferrari for 20% of the price,'” wrote squidvalley, “and god knows there’s upgrades available.” While we’re not sure what the percentage is against a Lamborghini, though, what we do know is this Z06’s owner got their Euros’ worth.
As soon as the yellow Lambo rolls up on the Z06, the race is on, and it’s brief. The Italian stallion just couldn’t keep up with the ‘Vette, blowing away the lads on board.
“The Corvette is a godsend to the automotive world—proof positive that a car can have great engineering and still be attainable to the middle class,” wrote HonestyOverCivility.
The working man’s sports car is more pricey abroad, of course, but the Z06 was likely still not a bad deal on the wallet. The yellow Lambo caught back up with the Corvette again for an immediate rematch. Once again, the Corvette leaves the lads and their expensive ride in the dust.
“I’ve never really been a fan of how American V8s sound,” wrote sideswipeem, “but hearing the Corvette hit like that is making rethink some life decisions.”
There’s nothing like seeing the Z06 beat the pants of a Lamborghini win a new convert. We can’t wait for more to come on over.
