More than just a cream puff, this Chevy C10 is capable of handling anything you throw at it.

More often than not, show trucks are, well, a little lacking in certain areas. Builders sink countless dollars and hours into making them look amazing, of course. But when it comes to downright driveability, we’d be afraid to take most further than around the block. Not just out of fear of scratching something, but because functionality if often an afterthought. That is not the case with this stunning 1971 Chevy C10, however.

We spotted the well rounded package ahead of its appearance at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas on October 19-21. And really, how could you miss it? Maybe it’s the deep custom blue paint covering those super smooth body panels. Perhaps it’s the 22-inch Foose wheels covering massive Wilwood disc brakes. Then again, maybe it’s the suicide doors. More likely, this Chevy C10 makes a statement with all of the above.

Of course, there’s a custom interior behind that custom exterior, too. But that’s not where the story ends. Underneath all of that visual goodness lies a truly modern and capable chassis and drivetrain. It all rolls on a full air-ride suspension that’ll help you protect the precious bodywork, with a modern 4-link setup out back. And a 405 hp LS6 is more than capable of lighting up those massive wheels, if you so desire.

But the modern mill, along with a 4L60 6-speed automatic transmission, also give this truck a healthy dose of modern reliability. Without going too over the top on power. And that’s what sets this Chevy C10 apart from most show trucks. It’s beautiful enough to win trophies, yet it employs a powerful yet reliable drivetrain. This is a truck that can comfortably handle a road trip, not just a slow speed cruise-in. And isn’t that the point?
