Default To flush tyranny or not??

I bought an 04 Silverado with 142 k miles. I doubt tyranny fluid and filter has ever been changed. Would be wise to have the tyranny flushed and filled or would i be asking for problems due to metal shavings getting Jared around??? I've heard horror stories about this. Not sure what to do. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

old trans machines flushed with pressure pulses and reverse flow direction....this could stir up debris. new fluid exchange machines allow the vehicle oil pump to flow the fluid out the trans cooler line and pump new fluid back to the return line at the same flow rate....a much better method.
the concern with complete fluid changes has to do with old worn out frictions discs....the grit in the clutch is helping the clutch hold...once its removed with all the fluid the clutch slilps.

when you buy a new vehicle and are unsure of the trans condition....do a pan drop...this will allow you to inspect the pan for abnormal debris, change the filter, clean the pan magnet and change approx 6 liters of fluid.
if everything looks good and the trans shifting is normal afterwards...the next trans service can be a fluid exchange or pan drop.

Do a pan drop and filter change. Stay away from transmission flushes!
