Question Rusty truck worth saving?

I recently bought a 2002 Silverado 1500, its originally from New York and now its in Florida. Rockers are rusted out completely as well as part of the door, the bottom corners where the bed meets the cab and wheel wells. Only thing that was important to me was that the frame only has surface rust. You can imagine the rust and corrosion everywhere else though. The Interior is impressively in great condition considering the age, my question is would it be worth putting roughly 4k worth of work into the truck to get in back to it full glory and possibly even lifting it 6" and putting new wheels and tires or should I put my money into something else? I love the truck very much but im always throwing money into vehicles that tend to be a waste in the end.

You will never get back what you put into it.

Yeah. Once rust starts up its like a cancer that just grows. Very hard to repair that kind of damage.

I also have a 2002. It was my Dad's From Long Island, NY. He used to tow a camper on the Beach at Montauk Pt.
Total corrosion going on underneath... It Now resides with Me (Dad Passed 5 years ago) in Georgia. Only has 120K miles and is Mint on the inside. 1 Rocker panel just started to Bubble.
I know I Will Never get rid of it, so I just keep it going and repair things as needed. I'm 53 so when I retire maybe I'll restore the whole thing? I don't know... Both My sons want me to keep it and do a restoration. Tough decision... You are not alone.

Yes Sir OldChevy, That's the Plan. We did a lot ion My sons 1995 S10. I am now driving that... Don't think I'll get rid of that either... I'm too damn sentimental about Trucks!

Looked Back at this... Krystal, Sorry didn't mean to Hijack your Thread... I'm Keeping My 2002. I have 2 sons, they both want it "restored". I'm still driving it for now.
If yours is really rusted out bad It might be a good parts truck for another 1500. I always wind up in the "pull-a-part" looking for some little thing.
Good Luck to ya
