Default Silverado Issues

Benjamin, You summed up my experience very well. I've had Fords, one Chevy, and now a Tundra. It's all about reliability to me and of all my vehicles the Silverado had the poorest fit and finish and reliability (driver side AC, door remote windows, dashboard cracks, dashboard sections not aligned, ABS shuddering). I just don't understand the blind loyalty to a product and company that has GM's track record. As I said "never again".

Well I love my truck but GM just didn't care for its customers in my opinion. However, I would like to give Kudos to Coastal Chevrolet in Savannah, GA! I went to them with my dash issue and without talking to anyone but the general manager they charged my $100 and ordered the dash and installed it. I didn't buy my truck from them but you can bet they have a new customer when vehicle purchase time comes. Dan Vaden Chevrolet in Savannah, GA wouldn't do anything even with the GM rep from the forum contacting them. Will NEVER use there dealership again due to multiple experiences with them. Go to COASTAL CHEVREOLET they still believe in customer service. I used names because I state only facts

Second that on GM not giving a crap about their customers. My truck has hada cracked dash now for almost six month and five month ago I put in a customerservice complaint directly through GM "you might see someone on hereclaiming to be a GM customer service rep" well they just pulled me aroundfor two weeks saying that they were working on it and someone would get back tome. Well no one ever did and when I called them back a month after submittingthe case they had no updates at all and said the dealership that sold the trucknever called them back. It’s been four months since then and still nothing.I'll tell ya what GM aint what they used to be that for sure!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Well, my turn now! 2007 Silverado Max (LTZ) had this happen a year or so ago, and the dealer replaced it after a whole lot of fussing and a couple phone calls to GM (I hate that that is required to get things recognized.. so frustrating..)

And now, our 2009 Yukon Denali is showing her first signs of crackage. I just PMed GM Customer Service through here. Thank you for stickying this thread!

A phone call earlier to GMC customer service got me nowhere.. they said there 'were no known issues associated with my VIN #". Big fat BS.

Hopefully this will be a fairly simple and easy issue to resolve.. fingers crossed.

Ron,
that is correct this crack problem seems to be as mentioned began with the 07-09 chevy models. I have an 08 that is in great shape because I keep my truck up but, it also has the same stress crack on the passenger airbag side. I've had issues with this truck almost from jump street, had slip yoke replaced because of the "wham" shifting noise, stability/traction bar misfire P0300 codes. Now the GM did give me 1 hour of dealership diagnostic time to see what caused the misfire and traction stability problems. To make a long story short and to the point this next week Stivers ford will be getting this in as trade and I'll become a F-150 guy. I've always loved chevy but now they seem to have let their quality go to the way side and the customer will bare the cost, in other words they don't give a krap about their customers.

Be sure to check out other forums for the vehicles you have in mind to see what issues you will face...all manufactures have issues, car complaints is also a resource...

Default 2009 Silverado 1500 LT Dashboard Cracking

Same issue with my 09 Silverado 1500, It's unbelievable that GM is doing nothing about this and getting blown off by the Chevy dealer i went to is not helping this at all, If GM doesnt do somthing to make this right this will be the last GM vehicle i purchase. Im sure this is a common sentiment.

I just find it comical that they (GM) can clear roughly 10B in profits after being bailed out but can't find it to split the dash repair 50/50 with me.

Its not that big of a deal. I'm sure there are a few well-to-do families that will be suing after these cracked dashes send flying shrapnel into the passenger cabin and causing further injury.

Me, I'll be using some JB plastic weld and a weekend to do my best to patch it up.

FWIW, I ended up buying the "new" dash online for $360 (looks like those suspect areas have more reinforcement) and spent 4hrs swapping dashes. Not a terrible process, just lots of little bits to be annoying.
