2008 Silverado Radio/Speakers issue
#131
I keep seeing the Customer Service folks telling people to take the issue to the dealership. They are charging way too much money to diagnose a quality issue. This needs to be a recall issue. I have a 2008 Silverado that has the exact same problem as everyone else is having. I also have a 2008 Impala that my agency has issued me for a patrol car that is having the same issue. This is definitely a Chevrolet quality issue and it is frustrating to see Chevrolet is not willing to step up and fix it.

I agree with you on this chev. Pu radio problem, my 07 the tweeters work all the time but the woofers in the front door work occasionally and the rear speakers rarely work and the warnings, (Key, Seatbelt, doors open Etc. ) only work if the drivers door speaker is working and I have read a bunch of forums, questions etc and nobody seems to have any answer except take it to the dealer and spend big bucks to get it fixed, which in my opinion they should be helping with at little or no charge, good luck,

Same problem with 2008 Silverado Crew Cab - Just started
I've now got the same problem as the rest of you. It started this morning early and when I got in my truck, the stereo sounded off - like it was an old transistor radio. I went through all the adjustments and they were all fine. So, here I am, looking for answers and found this Chevy forum. Needless to say, I'm a bit torqued, especially since I've owned the truck since new, and it only has 72K miles on it, but obviously it's no longer under warranty. At least I've got some hope that it's only the speakers.

2008 Silverado Radio/Speakers issue
I have been putting up with the same issue on my 07 Silverado with the woofers (bass) coming and going and no one seemed to have a answer, so I pulled it apart and checked the radio output and it was fine and I removed the drivers door panel and the woofer and tested the speaker and it was dead, usually a speaker working intermittently like that it is either because the coil inside the magnet is locking up because it has been hot from overdriving it or the little wires going into the coil are partially broken but I could not find anything except that it would not work, so I replaced the two front door woofers and after a month it has work flawlessly, those woofers are obviously no good, I do pro audio work all the time and have never seen a speaker do exactly what those are doing, I hope this helps,

07 Silverado speaker problem, GM help
I contacted GM twice and tried to get them to help me at little or no cost but they just pushed setting up a time for the dealership to check it out and they started out saying that they would do it for about $45.00 and it went up to $100.00 so I told them NO, they just in my opinion have a bunch of junk speakers out there and do not want to pay to replace them, I have been driving Chevrolet trucks for a long time and I am getting pretty dissatisfied with them now, I say let's all stay on them,
Good luck

I have a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500, driver side crapped out and it took me awhile to figure out that my turn signals ran through the speaker. Took both driver and passenger side out and replaced with Pioneer speakers, now I have the same problems AGAIN! So it's back to square one, went to a Auto Audio shop and he told me to have the dealer reprogram. Wonder what that will cost? $100 with no guarantee it will work. And I'm thinking about a 2015 - I think I need to rethink that.

Tweeters only no speakers all of a sudden
I would say over the last 2 years or so, I noticed my right front kick on and off intermittently on my 2007 silverado crew cab? Then one cold damp morning, first of the season, I had no speakers. I checked connections at the speakers, at the radio and found nothing wrong. I ordered a new set of 4 mtx's from crutchfield of all places for 79.37, free shipping, free wiring kit, and free adapters. Upon pulling the old speakers out I left the truck on, verified no speakers making sound only the tweeters. And voltage checked the speaker wires. Sure enough there was voltage, just nothing coming out of the old speakers. I hooked up the new ones, truck still running to insure no changes and they worked perfectly. So it seems that the factory speakers just finally give out after a period of time. I checked all over and of all places crutchfield had the best deal if you just want to replace your speakers. The whole job took about an hour or so.

Silverado radio problems
I put up with the same thing for a year and finally I took the drivers door panel off and removed the speaker while it was not working and it was dead so a friend of mine gave me two used aftermarket speakers and I put them in both front doors and they have been working flawlessly, give it a try,
