Default Tpms confusion

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. I have a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 5.3 flex fuel. I replaced all the tpms sensors with new Schrader 21507 sensors. The problem I am having with these new sensors is they turn the "Check tire pressure" light on when the tire pressures reach 2 psi over the cold tire pressure of 35 psi. I have researched this and found posts saying I need to go into the remote control door lock receiver and make sure the correct tires and tire pressure are programmed into this module. Has anyone heard of this? Thank you!

some vehicles you can adjust the tpm pressure thresholds. it has nothing to do with the tires.
probably going to be a dealer only scan tool that can do this.

Default TPMS Confusion

Thank you Tech2. I have a Snap-on modis edge scanner. Thought I should be able to do this but haven't been able to find where to do this. Identifix posts say to go into the remote control door lock receiver module to adjust these parameters. If I can set the high pressure parameter what pressure should I set it at when the cold air pressure is supposed to be 35 psi. If I can set the high pressure parameter to 40 psi I think the "Check tire pressure" light would stay out. I never had this problem with the original tpms until I installed these new tpms sensors. Thank you.

there will be only one psi setting either in the rcdlr or ebcm iirc.
if it happened after tmp replacement its probably a sensor problem. were these aftermarket sensors? did they require programming before registering them to the vehicle?

Default TPMS Confusion

Thank you Tech2. These sensors were preprogrammed from Schrader. All that was needed was a tpms relearn. These sensors work fine except when the tires heat up from driving 2 psi or more the dash displays "Check tire pressure." Seems like the difference between cold tire pressure and hot tire pressure before the warning display comes on needs to be more than 2 psi. I even have nitrogen in my tires and they rise more than 2 psi between hot and cold tires.

Yes third party programming tools can perform this function . I recently changed the tire type and nominal pressure for my 07 Silverado pickup from “P” type tires to “LT” tires and increased my nominal tire pressure to 55 psi because I do not run an empty pick-up truck .
You do not have to have a dealer do this . You only need a friend with a tool that can do programming . On my “Launch X431 ProV this is done in the “Service functions” section .
Do not panic ! once changed it will take the system about 20 minutes to reacquire the sensors with the new parameters .
A simple scanner cannot do this because scanners are only made to read and clear codes .

Default TPMS Confusion

Thank you Tech2. I have a snap-on modis edge scanner and have looked in the tpms module when I installed the new sensors. Basically couldn't see much other than the tpms sensor identification numbers, tire pressures, and the battery condition of each sensor. Have been told not to rely on what the scanner says the battery condition is on the tpms sensors. Evidently I need to get into the remote control door lock receiver module and read the data in that module. Maybe I can change the parameters in this module. Thanks!

i would contact the tpms manufacturer. seems like a programming issue with the sensor itself. an oem sensor would not do this.
