2014 Silverado AC Problems Already?
Wow. I guess I am not alone. I wish I was in your shoes. My A/C just quit at 36,100 miles in my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 All Terrain. How awesome is that? My dealer said there is nothing they can do under warranty. If this is such a known failure, you would think they would have issued a service bulletin or a recall.
How much did you guys pay to get it fixed?

Was looking to see if I was the only one with A/C problems with my new Chevrolet. I own a 2014 Silverado Crew Cab with what seems to be a lot of the same issues as above. I actually took mine in to the dealership and was told that my A/C compressor had literally blown up. I have an entire chunk of my compressor that is gone. I was told that high pressure could have been the issue but I haven't messed with anything since I bought the truck so I don't understand why it would blow now? My truck just turned over 50k miles so it is not covered under the warranty. I now have a $2,235 bill for a truck that is just over a year old. I love Chevy trucks, this is my second Silverado, but this is truly a bummer. Any advice out there as to what to replace? The dealership wants me to replace the entire A/C system (compressor, drier/accumulator, and condenser). Do I need to go this far or can I do the compressor and see if that will do it?
I must be the next victim. 2015 SIERRA A/C quit today. I have 47000 miles on truck. This truck has been in shop 3 times now since Christmas. I'm beginning to think I need to get rid of truck before I can't afford to keep it. Maybe a ford.
Any of you folks getting issues with the AC after the repair and warranty run out? I got my truck December 2014 and have put 35K on it in 16 months and with the warranty about to expire the AC is now dead. It's at the dealer now for fixing, but the dealer swears he knows nothing about any AC issues with the 2014 Silverado. Not feeling too cool.....
I can understand how you feel as you don’t expect to run into issues when purchasing a new vehicle, Mmscott1. We’d like to contact the dealership on your behalf and review your AC concern in greater depth. If interested, please send us a direct message with your VIN, contact information, and preferred dealership. Again, we apologize for the trouble you’ve experienced thus far and hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Jasmine

I got my truck fixed today. It was the high pressure line on compressor. This is the same problem I am seeing on the message board that is occurring with the 2014 and must of not been fixed on 2015 models. This should be a recall and fixed for free. The repair is a little over $400.
My truck's a/c went out last week and it has 39,400 miles on it. I took it in to the dealership and they told me that the compressor was cracked and needed to be replaced. According to the service tech he has repaired at least 20 2014 trucks with the same issue with faulty equipment according to him. I contacted Chevrolet and they were able to cover a good portion of the repair but my concern is this will most like happen again and my truck will have a lot more miles on it. Who will cover the cost in the future since my truck will have many more miles on it? I am a first time Chevrolet owner and from what I see I don't think I will buy another Chevrolet again.

The funny part is, I really like my truck, but if GM doesn't come forward and own this problem, I also will not get another Chevy. And I will continue to spread the word.
Viewing many of these posts, I suppose I should consider myself lucky to have made it almost 41K miles before the compressor failed catastrophically. By which I mean, locked up and smoked the belt. Fortunately that was back in October, and I haven't needed it. So far I'm out about $700 for the parts that I've been collecting (new condenser is recommended, $250 but it includes the filter/dryer on the 2014 GMC Sierra, compressor at $350, etc.). Nothing available from aftermarket on this recent of model year, that's probably going to change quickly with this much demand. As I do this, replacing the condenser took an afternoon b/c you have to remove the grille; just got the compressor mounted and will flush all the lines and evaporator and reassemble tomorrow. This is the first A/C issues in all the years I've owned GM except slow leaks, etc. But like many of you, it may just be enough. While I'm working on it, I see some engineering for cost savings (eg, no tensioning device on the compressor due to use of a stretchable belt?) I do like the fact that it's a separate belt, though. It didn't take my serpentine belt down with it. Hmm... wonder if they suspected compressor problems might be an issue, and put it on the separate belt as a result?
Otherwise I've been fairly satisfied with the truck, but this kind of expense and effort less than 5K out of warranty might be a deal breaker. Ah, well. Almost fifty years with GM products down the tubes. These compressors should never have been used, GM execs. You knew, right? And now to not acknowledge that there is an issue, and make available a proper solution, is more than despicable. Pull your heads out of the sand and give us something more than "we certainly apologize for any inconvenience." Let's at least see an effort for a proper fix.

I absolutely love my black and chrome 14 Silverado Crew Cab...great gas mileage, drives like a Cadillac, comfortable on trips, tows well.....
Except.....
Just got it back from the dealership for a 2nd time in 7 1/2 months for blown AC (high and low pressure) hoses. First time happened last July when I HAD to drive it to New Orleans (in July?!?!?) to carry passengers and luggage to board a cruise ship. NOT FUN. Dealer took some time getting the parts, conveniently didn't have a loaner, couldn't cancel the trip...HAD to take it. Once back, took it to the dealer, fixed it, voila! Cold air again (this was at about 30,000 miles)...
Fast forward to yesterday after church, got in it...warming up in South Arkansas to upper 70s during the day...and again, just like before, blows hot air. The mileage is right around 44,600, and told again, it blew both hoses. I asked the service manager TWICE shouldn't AC hoses last more than 8 months...both times his response..."THEY SHOULD".....canned answer I assume. Of course again, no loaner vehicles. This dealership has SUPPOSEDLY won numerous CS awards.....HOW??? Each time the service guys have been nice and helpful and no doubt are instructed to give canned answers and not offer any assistance in the form of a loaner. And, by the way, at 35,873 miles I bought the comprehensive GM Major Guard Protection Plan, go thru 107,873 miles (or 48 months, whichever comes first), so this won't cost me a penny.....just irritating as all get out.
Apparently GM has a seriously developing problem with these compressors and/or hoses, and they won't admit it. Looks like I'll be a regular 10,000 mile AC hose replacement customer. Just ticks one off, and the dealership servicemen of course won't give you any insight into what's going on.....
