Default AC Problems

I am hearing that the 14 & 15 Silverado's are having condenser problems (cracks in welds or something)

I have a 2014 Silverado that looks to be leaking on the driver side of condenser and i might have a compressor issue as well.

My truck has 76,000 miles on it and I like it other than the stupid AC problem (living in Louisiana where we have hot/humit)

I talked to a mechanic and he said $1,200 to repair it, but I don't want to repair this thing with a new part that might have the same problem

All i ever owned was GM products, but this is making me reconsider that

Add another to the list. 2014 Silverado with AC problems - blowing hot air. Vehicle was bought Mar 31, 2014 so just 5 days left in the initial warranty. Fortunately, this is a low mileage vehicle (~13-14000) . Appointment set for Thursday. I will update how this goes. Pretty not happy that 3 years in and it's still an unresolved issue. Our dealership has just recently changed ownership so hope this all gets handled correctly and fairly.

Remember, out of warranty no support even though an AC Problem within 3 yrs regardless of the mileage is unheard of accross the automotive industry. My truck has had problem after problem. Driverside window went down and never came back up, Transmission shutters, AC INOP, Left Rear Brake Caliper Leak, battery replaced at 38K, My Link System locks up Navigation stops working, phone connected listening to my playlist, stop for gas get back in truck My Link says phone is connected but nothing can be heard or transmitted. Chevrolet Silverado a BIG POS. The Biggest POS I have ever owned. Summer is coming still No AC or help from Chevrolet. Lip Service is the only Service you will receive.

Dealer work was done under warranty, replaced compressor, hoses, etc. Absolutely no hassle. They even serviced the outstanding recalls while they had it in the shop. New Compressor has 12/12 warranty... Our experience was good, just as it should've been. IMO, still being in that warranty made all the difference...

Lucky for you the warranty had not expired. It was Winter when my truck went over 36K at 38K we had an Indian Summer I tryed the AC and only hot air.
Chevrolet Silverado a BIG POS I will never buy another Chevrolet product again.

I have the same problem with my 2014 Silverado, I've bought a new Silverado every two years for the last 17 years, and have also owned Suburbans for the last 22 years. Rarely have I ever had a problem with my Chevys this one surprised me to be so new and have so little miles does anybody know what's actually causing the problem... is Chevy going to actually take care of it

Don't buy a Chevrolet because Chevrolet is doing nothing if you are out of warranty. This is a major design flaw that has lead to thosands of these AC Compressor's to fail due to the lines that leak and burn up the compressor. In the past chevy had good cars and trucks. Todays Chevrolet Silverado is a Big PoS.

I had the same thing with my condensor unit this week. Mechanic said it appears to be a chronic problem, Chevy has changed the part number since my truck was built due to a design change and there were only about 10 parts currently on the shelf in the US... About $700. After 3 years and 60,000 miles in Ohio where we only use AC about 7-8 months a year, I'm a little disappointed.

This is the 3rd Chevy 1500 in 8 years and has been the WORST. Glitchy My Link software, water runs in on seat when you open the door if it has rained, poor control software for the HVAC... I regret turning in the 2011 for the 2014.

I'm looking to buy another 3500 Dually in the next 4-5 months (have a 2013 GMC and 2003 Chevy now) and will be shopping other brands and just not coming back to Chevy/GMC like always.

Went into the dealership today and they wouldn't even look at it since I am out of warranty. I asked if they could at least put it into the system , so I could at least request assistance from GM and they said if I pay for the hour to get the estimate. Never again will I purchase a Chevrolet product. I will pay to get this fixed then trade it in for an Ugly but reliable Ford. Chevrolet Silverado a BIG POS.
