Default 2012 Captiva Sport - Shuts off while driving, all lights come on, Key gets stuck

We are having the following problems with our Captiva:
Key gets stuck in ignition
Lose all power WHILE DRIVING!
Radio shuts off
a/c shuts off
all lights turn on
feels like it wants to bog out

The certified dealership we had it diagnosed through cannot figure out the problem. Obviously, from the looks of these forums, I am not the only one! What the hell? How can we get help even though a problem hasn't been diagnosed? At this point GM/Chevy will have a lawsuit filed by me should anything happen while im driving and these issues occur!

Hello JenniferHolmSando,

We wouldn't want any customer to experience what you've described. Since you mentioned working with your dealer, we would be more than happy to reach out on your behalf for clarification. If this is something of interest, please send us a direct message with your VIN, mileage, contact information, and dealer name within a direct message.

I to am having the same exact issues. Why hasn't there been a recall?
I can see that I'm not the only with this issue
I have only had this car for 5 months.
I thought that i would be able to keep this car for a long time but no longer feel safe. What is chevy going to do to avoid a lawsuit of my family gets injured?

I have had this issue for over a year and a half. I just keep resetting codes and moving along.
with the key stuck in the ignition, it would unlock after about 30 minutes. i had to disconnect the battery and pretty much reset it. It still idles hard with the check engine light. Since the dealership sucks and can't find anything themselves i guys i drive this POS til it dies or smokes.

My chevy captiva has been powering off in the middle of turns (4 times). Can't seem to get the problem fixed and I don't feel safe with my 2 year old in that car, that I spent hard earned money on.

Default 2013 Chevy Captiva Sport LT caught fire

Is GM doing anything about this?????

Our 2013 Chevy Captiva Sport LT did this after we put in a new battery and alternator in January and then in September we put in a new tensioner pulley and belt and then in October the alternator caught fire and it's been at the mechanic for the last two and a half weeks they put in a new alternator and stuff again and the alternator is getting hot to the point where you can't even touch it....

PRIOR TO IT CATCHING FIRE.....
I was experiencing multiple dash lights on wasn't staying charged so we cleaned the posts and battery connections and ran great than just caught fire AT THE ALTERNATOR.

THIS IS WHERE WE ARE AT A LOSS WITH WHY ANOTHER NEW ALTERNATOR IS GETTING SO HOT IN ABOUT 15 minutes of running that you CANNOT TOUCH IT and car is smoking....... Still owe a large amount on the financial side of the Captiva.

@2lov4lyfe
Unfortunately, 11 years is too late for GM to do anything.
Did you try replacing the battery cables as is recommended in these topics?

https://chevroletforum.com/forum/cap...-issues-65419/

Try this test.

If cables are good then maybe you had a defective alternator
