my engine fan is running all the time
Hello Fellow Chevy Owners,
obviously we are all here to find a solution to our Chevy issues. First let me tell you I am an avid Chevy enthusiast owning and racing many of them throughout the years. My weekend cars are and always will be Chevy brand, but due to the fact that I drive 90 miles a day back and forth to work I was not using the Chevy brand for daily commute. I was using Brand HDA. Because of the longevity of the warranty and gas mileage. Sold that car used with 267K miles for a 1/3 of what I paid for it new. Other than oil changes every 2000 miles and following the written maintenance had no major issues. Buy a new 2012 Chevy Cruze to go back to bowtie loyalty and within 12 months had three recalls, 6 months later two broken transmission lines (That I had to shell out $278 for not covered due to mileage) now another recall with the steering and now a check engine light, fan on high and a bad smell in the interior( Smells like burning Dex-Cool to me). I do have high miles 76k and understand what warranty means but everyone having the same problems is more than a consumable parts issue. Are there any TSB on this particuliar issue? How can a sensor or thermostat go at 76k miles when I still have the original brakes and tires? I have not been to the dealer yet as I am trying to gather all of the information possible as I feel Chevy should be responsible for all repairs regarding this issue. Sorry to harp but I have had nothing but issues with my Cruze since I purchased it and I am trying real hard to stay loyal again...

I see that this code has come up in about 18 percent of Chevy sonic 2013. I have 48,000 miles on my sonic and this code has come up. This seems to be a problem. Is this covered under warranty
So my 2012 Chevy Cruz fan is constantly running all the time and my check engine light is on and I was told by my dealership it would cost me $100 just to get it checked out that's a lot just to hook it up and when mechanics I know never heard of this issue especially when my car isn't running hot. I bought this car brand new and it is only 2 1/2 years old and already giving me issues. The code I was given from OnStar was P0597 would this be covered in my warranty? This sounds like a defect in the cars since this isn't normal. I might just have to try another brand if this persists because this issue was not caused by anything that I done or haven't done. Ugh.

Listen up...
I had the same thing happen to my 2012 cruze...
Had 43,000 miles at the time.
Was told that it was not covered...... but wait...
Did a little research..
"IT IS COVERED" Any code that comes up about your thermostat, or
thermostat housing is COVERED under the
5 year, 100,000 mile power train warranty..
Tell the dealer that and they will fix it at NO charge...
Mine is back to good now..

I have a 2012 Chevy Cruze and my engine light came on today. Have me the same codes thermostat heater low/open..... It looks like multiple people have had this problem after 40k miles (guess what I'm just over 40k) I've always used a Chevy and I bought a new Chevy for a reason not to worry about this stuff. Here I am trying to figure out what's wrong with my car!!!!
Hi, same as everybody else, i have the p0597 code and fan runs at a Very high pitch! I have 63,000 miles but problems been there a while. Its a 2011 Cruze and if there is a recall or a service dept. That would help me that be great. Seems like a common problem on here. Other than that its been a solid car. Any help would be great.
Today my fan started running and wouldn't stop. Same thing happened to one of my employees cars. After how much I bragged about my Chevy cruze I was very disappointed to hear I would have to pay out of pocket for this repair. Something needs to be done since this is clearly an issue on Chevy's end. If not this will clearly be the last Chevy I or anyone in my family buys.
Hello Everyone!
I own a 2011 Cruze with 89000 miles. The car is running smoothly but for the past week the fan stays on all the time and the engine light came on as well. I've had it checked at Pepboys and the code was about the cruise control. I don't have cruise control. Any help would be appreciated.
