I am having the same problem with my 2012 Cruze. The fan runs continually and is getting louder. I have 37,000 miles on my car and my Dealer,Thomas Chevrolet in Media says that I have to pay for the repairs. I am a student and this would be costly.
I see from the forum that this is a common problem with this model. Any help you could give me would be appreciated. I would hate to have to change cars because this one provides me with everything I was looking for.

My husband and I are having the same issue with our 2012 Chevy Sonic. The car is just 2 years old and has less then 35,000 miles on it. We noticed the engine light on this summer we put it on the machine and it read nothing. So we had it reset and it came back on again. We put it back on the machine last week and it said Thermostat heater control circuit high what ever that means. Now we can't even get our tags renewed or drive the car until this is fixed and on top of that my husband has kidney failure and this is our only mode of transportation for him to go to dialysis. For this to be a fairly new car it makes no since that this car is having this problem. I have notice on this forum that there are too many 2012 cars with the same issue. Why has there not been a recall to fix this problem??? We wanted an American car but with all the recalls and now this I don't think I'll ever buy a Chevy again!!

stargatelady Welcome to the forum...
When you had the codes read was it at the dealership?
You should still be under warranty at less then 36k miles

Unhappy Codes P0597 and P0598

I have two 2012 Chevy Cruzes. One is fine but mileages is under 40,000 the other is over 43,000 but it has codes P0597 and P0598. Fan runs all the time even without engine running. It is not overheating. I don't have a dealership closer than an hour away and can't afford to be without my vehicle or to sit at the dealership all day long for them to figure it out. Is this issue covered under the 70,000 power train warranty?

I own 4 GM vehicles tried to take it to two different dealerships previously when I had time and one wanted me to rent a vehicle and leave mine with them and the other said make an appointment a week later and I'd be responsible for diagnostics unless they determined it was covered by warranty.

Welcome to the forum...
You might read through the post as there are some fixes listed i.e.#56
#80. You can try your local auto parts store, many of them will read the codes for you for free. The items may be covered under warranty but as you found out the dealer still has to pay their techs to even investigate, but if it is covered the diagnostic is also covered.

DWStrong no my husband was having the car inspected and we found out doing the inspection. Unfortunately we just found out that we don't have a warranty, it didn't come with the car. The dealer we dealt with I'm now finding out is very shady and I plan on reporting them to BBB!!

Which sounds crazy!! When you buy a new car from the dealer it should automatically come with the car right??? Hi stargatelady,

We certainly understand your frustration and apologize for your dealership experience. Generally, the warranty begins the date the vehicle is first put in service. So if you purchased a used vehicle it wouldn't necessarily have a warranty unless you purchased one aftermarket. If there's anything we can do to help with your situation please feel free to PM us.

Default Same Issue

I have a 2012 Chevy sonic which i purchased brand new around Christmas 2012. I am having the same error code of P0598 and P0597 not to mention P2096 (Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean - Bank 1 whatever that means) . I tried talking to GM customer service but because i am over 50,000 miles they just told me my only option is to go to a dealership for diagnostic. I called the closest dealership and they want $110 for diagnostic. I told the GM rep i want to know if any of these codes are covered under my emissions or drive-train warranty and they couldn't tell me. This is SO frustrating. I don't have $110 to find out what i already know! This seems like such a widespread problem GM should do the right thing and issue a recall immediately.

I had taken it to a dealership while it was still under warranty complaining of rough idle and other issues that seem to be symptoms of this problem. Why was this not looked into by the dealer as the possible cause when it was still under warranty?

Now I have a car which i owe WAY more than its worth on and it needs work which i cant afford to pay for. Poor service on GM's part.

Not to mention I will have to lose a days pay at work because the service department isn't open on weekends and they will only give me a loaner car/rental IF it is something that falls under warranty.
