Default My fellow fan-stay-on Cruzers....

Ok, here is what was wrong on my Cruze....seems to be same problem as everyone else (fan running a blaze with check engine light on). I had 2 problems...first, there was an internal leak in water pump....they thought they fixed it, but that didn't work. It was the thermostat/housing....it was cracked, which made the t-stat stay open.
I had 51k on car, but it was covered under power train warranty, it just was not convenient not having car for a few weeks, good luck ya'll

I'm having the exact same issue with the fan running high, not overheating, engine light going on/off and just hit 50k (issue started happening at about 45k). Since the light keep going away after a day I wasn't thinking anything of it but when it finally came on again and I was right next to an autozone I stopped in. They read the code got the P0597 code but their database said it was for a Volkswagen so the guy came back out to the car and of course the check engine light had already gone out by then. So he hooked up the diags again anyway and got the cruse control error like others have reported. Mine doesn't have cruse control either but maybe it really mean Cruze control . Is there a recall on this yet? Is the senor just set to blow up after 40k+ miles?

P.S. I'm also having the trunk issue that some else reported in this thread. My remote works but the button on the outside of the trunk doesn't. I normally don't use it and just use the key fab so it's not like it should have gone out from over use.

Default Same as everyone else

I purchased my Cruze used with 32k miles.

At 42k miles the Fan started running all the time. Took to autozone and the readings came back the same as everyone else.

Really peeves me off that I am not even 6 months into driving the car ill have to spend 200 bucks to get this fixed. As it could be anything from a bad water pump to a silly sensor.

Not a happy camper at the moment.

Same issue here, fan is stuck on high and the check engine light is on. Called the dealer they wanted 100 dollars just to tell me what was wrong. That is completely ridiculous to charge just to tell me what is wrong. It's not running hot, no weird smells or noises. I've had more issues with this car than any others I have owned.

Hi marinetuner,

Send us your VIN, mileage and dealership name as we'd like to try and help with this matter. We may be able to contact your dealership and work out something with the diagnostic fee. Please send us a private message if interested.

Default check engine on and fan running hard

2012 Chevy cruze. Check engine light on. I noticed the fan was running really loud. I'm sure the car is out of warranty now. Went to auto store they said code P0957. I have complained about this for the last 7 months and dealership said it's fine. Reset code. Now I'm out of warranty and not happy at all and not sure what to do.

Default 2011 Cruze LS P0957

Ok, hope this will help some. Few months ago I hit 90k miles on a Thur. & Fri. check engine light came on. Stopped at AutoZone and the code pulled as cruise control circuit open (don't have cruise control). Upon further investigation possible cause "Thermostat stuck open". I was having a lot of the same issues as other people (fan running all the time loud). I didn't notice any difference in performance so I didn't pay any more attention to it until a week ago. I opened the hood and there was a puddle of coolant under the thermostat and the reserve tank was empty. The car always ran at normal operating temperature. I made an appointment with local dealership to replace the thermostat last Wednesday. My car now has 97k miles. The dealership stated that after 36k miles the thermostat is considered a wear item and it would cost me $498 to replace it. I told them I would do it myself. I contacted a local repair shop and bought a new GM thermostat for $100. It is really very simple to replace yourself un-clamp the coolant hose, un-plug the sensor and remove 4 bolts. I am not a mechanic by any means and it took me all of about 40 minutes to do myself. Now paying close attention to make sure there are no other issues. Also the repair shop that sold me the thermostat quoted $150 total parts and labor to replace it. I recommend to check with your local repair shop to have the work done if you are past the warranty period.

P.S. I did contact Amber N. with Chevrolet Customer Care and she was able to get the dealership to waive the $110 diagnostic fee for me. Thanks again Amber!!
