my engine fan is running all the time
I as well have a 2012 Chevy Cruz. Looks like there is a lot of the same issue. My fan is constantly running and the engine light came on. Thank God I have onstar. They did an on demand diagnostic on the car and came back with Engine Coolant Thermostat heater control circuit high voltage. Is this a common thing with the 2012 vehicle? Has there been a recall on this part?

I also have a 2012 cruze with the fan running all the time and with one code reader it says cruise control open I don't have cruise and with reader said thermostat circuit open. It has 51000 mi on it is there any type of recall on these since it seams common on here. Thanks for any help
I am having a similar issue with my 2012 Cruze. Two days ago my fan came on and it will not go off, it keeps getting louder each and every day so I brought it to the dealership to get it checked. The engine light is on and I'm having to pay for the diagnostic and they're claiming that since I have 40,000+ miles I am out of my warranty so any repairs will be on me. This seriously rubs me the wrong way because I am just over 40,000 miles and if this is a chronic issue that is appearing on many Cruze vehicles then it should be a recall. This is my third Chevy vehicle that I've owned. I owned a Cavalier, a Cobalt and now my Cruze and this is outrageous! Why should the customers have to pay for a known software issue with the vehicle? I'm not doing anything wrong as for driving, I take care of my vehicle. It's something faulty in the vehicle and there's no reason the customer should have to pay for that! This unfortunately may be my last Chevy!
Update: I don't know if it was my call to customer service, me telling my story on the forum or the dealership itself but when it was all said and done somebody did the right thing. The dealership took care of the issue, I did get the same code as everyone with the open circuit, but they did in fact state I was covered under my warranty. I wasn't too happy coming into the dealership today but due to them doing the right thing, I was happy when I left. Thank you to everyone involved!

I have this exact same issue too. The engine light would turn on then off then on, now lately it has stayed on and the fan is always running and it is pretty loud. I took it to Auto Zone to get the engine light check and they told me it most likely was the Thermostat. I have to take it to the dealership to get it checked and I am afraid the same thing is going to happen since I am at about 50,000 miles. I love my Chevy Cruze but seems like it is a defective car and I might just trade it in. I will be going to the dealership today to see what they say and get the recall fixed. I will update.

UPDATE: I went to the dealership and there were 2 recalls that I was able to get fixed for free. I asked if the engine light could be checked and since I was over the 30,000 miles they told me it would be a $95 fee for the diagnostic. I refused the service so then he told me he would try and get me a code. After a couple of hours he called me and told me that it was the thermostat that was failing and that was covered under the power steering so I ended up getting it fixed free of charge. Since then the engine light has not came on and the fan noise went away!

This seems like the place to be......my Cruze is having same symptoms. It's a 2011, that I bought new in Feb. 2012, it has 51k miles. Fan came on a few weeks ago, along with check engine light....I haven't driven it b/c the fan's loud noise sounds downright scary! I read this forum, and as per someone's recommendation, replaced the coolant temperature sensor (I figured the $30 was worth the hassle of taking it to the dealer, and stressing whether or not it was covered under warranty). It didn't work....fan still screaming, coolant level is fine, temp gauge is reading correctly (even double checked intake temp with an IR gun to get exact reading, it is running as it should). Am I still covered under 3 year portion of warranty? Or b/c I'm over 36k, it won't be covered? Was there a recall on this? The problem seems to be recurring.....
Been GM loyal since I started driving, but losing a little faith.....I have a brand new 2013 427 Corvette with 600 miles, and I had to bring that to dealership last month b/c of a ticking noise, which happened to be a coil wire causing engine to misfire, what the heck is going on here???
Any help or answers would be greatly appreciated...it's my commuter car, and I need it working ASAP!!
