I had the same problem on my 13 cruze with the fan running all the time, and the check engine light on. I brought it in to the dealer and the AC high side pressure switch was bad. They replaced the switch and everything is fine so far.

I have a 2012 Chevy Cruze as well, I am having the same problem, I have a little over 60,000 miles on my car and take good care of it. My check engine light is on and my engine fan is running very loudly, the temp levels all seem to be fine. Went to a gentleman to see what the light was on for and its reading the my cruise control is open, which I dont have cruise control on my car. If this is a software issue and all these customers are having the same problem as I am, we shouldnt be paying for the problem. Unfortunately Im out of warranty with my miles and I have to renew my plates but I cant because of my check engine light on and my dealership is so busy they want me to leave my car there for a full day because they are so busy and I dont have a replacement car and the dealership has zero rental because they are so busy, so I dont know what to do. I dont want to pay for an issue that all these other cruzes are having.

Hey Erin,

I apologize for these concerns that you are experiencing with your Cruze. If you would like any further assistance with this, please feel free to send a PM with your VIN, contact info and preferred dealership. Have you considered trying another dealership that may not be as busy? I would also be happy to look into this as well. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank goodness for this forum! I am having the same problem and need my car inspected ASAP. I am at 38,000 miles so no warranty. I was told to replace the thermostat, even though it's not overheating. I then found out that a $5-10 part for any other car, costs $75 from Chevy! What a rip off. From reading this, that might not even help as it may be a sensor. Now I don't know why to do, but third time is not a charm for Chevy! Sadly, much of this car has been recalled but the most common problem!

Default same problem

I also am having the same problem as you are talking about. I have a 2012 cruze with 43,000 miles. The engine light came on and I am getting a code 0597. The engine fan runs at a high pitch and is running that way alot now. I want to take it to the dealer but I know they are going to try and charge me for it. Is it still covered under the 5yr. powertrain warranty?
