Default 2007 Equinox Heater problem

Have a 2007 Chevy Equinox

Heater / Air were working fine.

Smelled antifreeze when turning on heat – and saw small amt of fluids on garage floor.

Took to shop – they found water pump leaking – replaced.

Heater now not working properly. Feel heat while sitting and going slow – but when travelling to highway speed – blows cool air.

Still smelled antifreeze – further checking – replaced bad heater core.

Still no heat.

Shop cleaned out hoses, etc and now replaced radiator.

Still no heat at higher speeds.

Shop seems stumped. Thoughts?

could the blender motor/door be stuck? not sure about the equinox but i know the early 2000's trucks had this issue of the heater core was leaking. it would drip a small amount around the blender door and then dry up and cause it to be stuck in one position or another. also if the coolant was just about topped off it would also blow cooler air.

it should move. you should hear it around the passengers side floor board. might "clunk" might just slowly wind into position.

Make sure the cooling system has been sufficiently bled. The 3.4L in the Equinox is a challenge to bleed. I highly recommend parking the vehicle on an incline to make the bleeder screw the highest point in the cooling system. A shop should know better, but this is easy enough to try yourself. All you need is a 7mm socket for the bleeder screw - which is located above the water pump housing.
