Code POO11 Chevy Express
2 years ago, I was driving from Atlanta to Minnesota and back. Halfway back code POO11 appeared. Had it checked out, and dealer could not find anything. Last months after I had 50% of oil life left, I noticed the oil pressure being a little low. Oil level was fine. Then the check engine came on, and the code reader read the same code P0011. Had it checked again at the same dealer, and they just said I need a new engine without any further testing. They said I had internal engine failure and the motor was burning oil. The car was checked on a Monday, but the Saturday prior they did an oil change, so the mechanics had no clue if the oil was dirty etc.
I thought needing a new engine was overkill......has anybody else experience with this in their Chevy Express?
We did reset the check engine light and have been driving the van. However, I have a long trip coming up, and I am a little concerned.

There is a history of bad pickup tube o-rings causing low oil pressures with most LS engines. You could be sucking bubbles. Air doesn't make a good lubricant. If you drove it with low oil pressure then the engine is likely toast. You could tear it open, do a timing chain, oil pump, and pickup o-ring, but if low oil pressure wiped out the bearings it's time for a new engine.

So the oil pressure was not really low, but a little lower than usual. Below are the pictures of the oil pressure. It usually is on 40. What do you think.
Honestly, I’d get another opinion from a different shop. That one seems a little too eager to jump on a camshaft sensor code. If the engine was knocking or showing signs of something serious, maybe a bigger repair would make sense. But if all you’ve got is a camshaft code, I wouldn’t even think about replacing the engine.
The first picture shows the car at 70 mph and the second at 50 mph. The engine does not show any signs that something is wrong. After the oil change, the pressure is also back to normal. at 40. No alarm went off, ever. I was thinking about getting a manual oil pressure check done.
