crate engine wont start

Default crate engine wont start

installed chevy performance long block crate engine.with brand new edelbrock performer 1406 carb,msd hei street fire distributer .she wont start and the plugs are dry.how and how much fuel does it take to get her started.all cyl have spark.and fuel squrts out of the accellerater pump.

with dist power removed? turn motor over for about 10 sec?let rest for how long before restarting ?how and when do you know gas has gotten down to all the cyl's ? so you can plug dist power back in ?

If you have fuel and spark if should at least attempt to run. If the plugs are dry, a good guess is a fuel issue that is where I would start. Spray starter fluid into the intake if the engine does not even try to fire move onto the ignition system.

Ditto Solwav. Pull the air cleaner and give it a shot of starting fluid. If it doesn't fire you most likely have a fuel delivery problem. Make sure your ignition timing is right and that you're not 180* out on the distributor install.
