Default Replacing a 700r4

So I think I didn't get my torque converter seated properly and burned out my transmission. It seemed to pull forward when I bolted it up to the flex plate, but still shifted fine for a short while. Then wouldn't always go into reverse tho I would feel it engage, it was slipping badly. Now doesn't want to get into high gear. I'll try to seat it properly but probably too late.
So I'll probably be looking for a replacement, I understand most gm trans will bolt up, but I'd like it to be as simple as possible. Would a 4l60 it 4l60e be a direct swap? I mean work with the electronics and same drive shaft length?
Thanks

I rebuilt an engine and then mounted it onto the old trans. It had 286 000 km. Seemed to shift fine before the engine swap, but used to shift a little slowly. I changed the oil and filter and then started running into said problems

Sure it's a lot but since it didn't start acting up until I got everything back together, I'm wondering if I did something wrong. I may have used the other torque converter from the donor engine and trans. Not sure which trans that was as I scrapped it (was told it wasn't shifting) but it was from a c1500. So would using the wrong converter have these effects?

I added some Lucas antislip, advanced the timing after replacing a faulty fuel pump, and now it's shifting much better tho still slips sometimes in reverse. Guess I'll keep going
