Default Cam

Ok guys I am going to be buying a new cam I have reason to beleive that after 200,000 miles my cam is worn causing my hunting idle at stops. Right now I have a flat tappet cam in it. I am not sure how much lift is has. My question is What flat tappet cam should I get and with how much lift? I want something that will give me more performance but not to much as I it is a daily driver. Thank's guys in advance for your help!

Ive checked fuel pressure, and vacuum already. You do not think that my cam could create a bogging down(hunting idle) problem at stops and low speeds? Ill check the cam out thank's Gary!

Hmmm is there a way to check the timing chain?

Yeah I just timed it and the timing was not jumping around so that rules that out.

Yeah I replaced the IACV but the next project is to clean TB and clean the EGR valve tunnel on the intake. I have already replaced TPS, injectors, and pressure regulators to!

Might want to measure lift at the valve. Compare that to the spec and see if any of them are noticeably lower than the others.

What gets me the most is after two years of having this problem why was there not one code thrown?

Long ago I had a Neon that ran all kinds of weird, but the check engine light never came on. Took me a while to finally read the codes, and sure enough, had a bunch of them. But no light on the dash. Turns out someone had gotten tired of the light always being there, and yanked the bulb out...

Early monitoring systems aren't very sophisticated, they look at a handful of inputs and if the responses fall within spec, they assume everything is ok.

I would look at the EGR real closely, maybe it's leaking and letting exhaust gases enter the intake when it is not wanted. Did you try to disable the EGR by unplugging the vac hose? I assume it's the conventional vacuum controlled type, although there are other types out there.
I hate EGR.
