Default flooding i need help

i have an 84 montecarlo with the 305 toped with a q jet 4 barel comp controlled as of latly it has been flooding itself out i dont want to drive this thing durring the winter but got jewed hardcore on my winter vehicle and it burnt down 4 days after i bought it (gas leak that was presant till the day it burn down i actually was pulling off the road to check it out becuase i could smell gas and waiting at a red light to turn i started seeing smoke and it went up in flames ) but back to what i was sayin i had a aftermarket eddlebrock triangular airfilter and it back fired throught the carb burnt up the filter thats it (thank god flash back was a comming it was just a few days after truck burnt down but sio i threw the stock one back on there and it has been running good but in the past few day it has fludded itself outa fewtimes once when leaving to go to work in the mornin another time on my way to work this mornin at a red light.... the chok is non opriable so it is adgjusted off where it wont close im fine withthat runs fine but i was wondering if the flap that opens and closes to heat up faster on the stock aircleaner may be causing this becuase by the looks of it the thing doesnt look to be opening back up
