I'm strongly considering a 2014 Impala. I keep my cars a long time, and would like to know: 1) what engine your's is, 2) what your MPG is, 3) if you go by the computer, or are calculating MPG by hand when you fill up, and 4) what kind of driving you do.

The computer says 25 mpg and calculating the mileage when I fill up its very accurate. I have the LTZ with the big engine. Most of my driving is rural however as I live out in the country.

 

2LZ with 3.6L V6.

Averaging 23 MPG after 2000 miles going by DIC.

Aggressive driver with 300+ horses.

 

I have the six cylinder and drive almost all highway miles. 65 miles one way to work. The computer says 29.7 MPG, when I do the math this is pretty close.

 

I have the 2014 Impala1 2.5litre 4 cylinder and am averaging 31-32 mpg driving city/highway combined. The mileage is figured by hand after fill ups, the DIC is very close to being accurate

Speaking of mileage, I am curious if anyone with a 2014 Impala has tried running it on the E85 (ethanol) fuel? Supposedly, all models are dubbed "FlexFuel" meaning they can use this fuel without harm. But the book also warns that you won't get as good a miles per gallon figure because E85 has less energy per gallon. That's the part I'm curious about.

 

Just as you stated E85 has less energy per gallon and the accordingly lower price per gallon.

All things being equal the cost evens out depending on the PPG.

Less cost per gallon with less miles per gallon.

 

I ran a tank of E85 and lost about 5 miles per gallon highway miles. I was getting a little over 24 MPG on E85 I get about 29.4 MPG on Regular gas. The way I figure it, E85 will only break even with Regular Gas at about $0.65 difference. Anything less than that and E85 is not worth running. Especially when one considers the extra deposits that E85 leaves in the engine, per my Dealers service department. I have yet to see this kind of price difference in my area.
