2010 Malibu wont shift into Park all the way.
Newb to this forum, I need some help with the wife's Malibu.
I crammed the shifter into park (short temper

) and heard something break the car shifts into park but now has a little slack In the transmission while in park, and the key wont turn into the off position. Key is stuck in the ignition now.
What I'm needing to know is where to look for what broke, I hope its on the shifter, I tried to pull the console apart but cannot get the top off the shifter and cannot see any thing that looks obviously broken.
Has anyone else had this happen before?

Did you get it fixed?
I'm not sure about a 2010, but there was an adjustment on the shift lever cable in the motor compartment for a 2002 j-body. (My wire cable split inside the housing, and I had shifting - but no engagement since it split into 2 wires).

don't be so rammy...
provide your vin to your dealer or pm customer service here. This recall may apply, depending on the vin build #, and may be a free fix. It involves a fractured shift cable retainer.
