AutoStart not working
I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu - the autostart feature stopped working. The lights still blink like they normally do when it works, but the engine doesnt even attempt to turn over. I know its not the key FOB since the unlock/trunk functions still work on that. Is there any other options than a bad starter that I could try to fix this?
Your hood pin is broken... I was a autostart installer. And thats a sign that the hood switch is grounded telling the autostart the hood is open
Last time you closed the hood it probably broke or bent.
For now you can take the wire off the switch and tape the end and wire tie it out of the way till you get a new switch

I haven't tested this yet....I think I need to bring it in somewhere or get a guy friend who is good with cars to figure it out as I am pretty clueless when it comes to cars. Was goign to go into Chevy dealer tonight to find out the cost for new hood switch and install

Its not mine i never got a chance to go look but heres what they normally look like:

Now it will be vertical not horizontal, and the black plunger is usually what breaks off grounding out the pin at the bottom.
It might be silver or grey too
