Hi there!

I just recently bought an 1989 chevy k2500.
Its an automatic transmission with 4x4.
It shifts into every gear fine but it won't shift into park! It feels like somethings jamming it???

Please help!

 

Set the ebrake and slide under the truck. Disconnect the shift cable from the trans shift lever shaft. Attempt to move the shift lever through each position. If each shift is completed the problem is in the shift cable or lever. If you still can't shift to park the problem is in the trans.

Im very new at this site i have a 1989 Chevrolet Silverado with a 5.7L engine is a k2500 with a 3 speed transmission with overdrive this question may be really stupid but im going to ask

My truck shift very well when is set on top of jack stands but when i set it on the ground and go for a ride it doesn't shift at all i just got this tranny from a used autopart the old tranny didn't have reverse at all what can this be and what is causing this problem it has tranny oil and the plugs was checked and both seem to be working what else can this be it works 100% on air and 6% on ground
