Default 88' won't start

This is an 88' 350 4wd AT, was running bad and I replaced plugs, wires,
cap and rotor. It ran a lot better but a few weeks later when cold started
it ran like it was on full choke. After a couple of minutes it smoothed right
out and the exhaust cleared.
The sensor on the water outlet tested OK but a couple days later it refused
to start. Thought the fuel pump went,no power to the pump from the relay.
No power to the relay from the computer, but hotwiring the pump got gas to
the TBI.
Looking down the ports and no fuel spray when key is turned on.
Still putting out a spark. A friend told me the computer might need to get
a signal from the distributor for every thing to function right.
Found nothing in Haynes.

Could my problem be in the distributor ???

What and where should I test???

thanks
chnaus

check for signal from the oil pressure sending unit. this is tied into ignition. you should have a small amount of resistance even when not running. check all fuses. check signal from ignition switch. check battery cables at battery, at starter, and at ground.

There would be no fuel spray just by turning the key on,the motor would have to be cranking.
