Angry The Search Continues!!

Well my idle surging problem at stops and in parking lots continues!!! Ive replaced every sensor and rebuilt the heads, new fuel pressure regulator, good fuel pressure and after a year of throwing parts and money at it i decided to take it to the dealer and they told me it was a cracked magnet on the distributor shaft. I pulled it out and it was cracked in several places so i replaced it along with new ac delco plugs, wires, cap, and rotor got the timing set started it and it ran good!! took it down the road and my problem is still there!! my question is could this be my crank or possible timing chain? if so is there a way to check this? Any help appreciated i am stumped on this one ive ruled out all the things i have ran into in the past!!

Hey Zuk, you have been chasing this for a good while, how many miles do you have on the motor? I hate to say give up on it, but maybe it's time for a swap.

the truck has 205,000 but it came stock with a 305 and i put a 350 in it after 70,000 miles for more power. about 5,000 miles ago i rebuilt the top end. The compression is about 140 all around. And when squirting oil in there the compression does not change which would indicate bad rings. So the bottom end and top end are good. So im not ready to swap. Not ready to give up!!!

So did this problem begin after you did the motor swap? Did you adjust the computer for a 350 instead of 305?

That it back to the dealer and complain they should continue to test for a reasonable price. You have to repair the known problems then keep testing. Did you move the 02 sensor back to where it should be?
