**CL60e Tranny??*
Really? No one has a good used tranny for my 1993 Suburban K1500 that they want to sell??
Come on, guys! Thrown me a bone here!! I am in real need of your help.
Over 200 looked at my post.
Maybe we should start a "Sticky" for WTB, Wanted to Sell, freebies, trade, etc.
Does anyone know of a good DIY with pics on replacing the Tranny on this truck? Please let me know.
Joey

You meant a 4L60e (option code M30), right? Here's what to do:
For the best set of instructions (written and diagrams that you can print out), go to www.alldatadiy.com and subscribe. That'll cost you $26.95 for a year's access.
For the transmission, try www.car-part.com. A couple of years ago I found a good deal on a low-mileage Mercedes engine and transmission through this site. I saw two pages of dismantlers' listings for your trans in the Pacific region, including a couple in Nampa, ID. Prices went from $450 to about $1,100.
Another website I just stumbled across (and know nothing about their reliability) is www.automotix.net. They listed four used, priced from $691 to $841. The miles listed for all four were high enough to scare me, but they also have one listed as "remanufactured" for $1,580. Shipping is supposed to be free.
My '93 was nearly identical to yours, right down to the "Medium Dark Aqua Metallic" paint (yeah, that's really what GM calls it). Mine had the light grey velour upholstery my daughter referred to as "rat fur."
The trans failed just the way yours did at 148,000, and I went through the same process looking for a used or remanufactured replacement. I finally figured out how long it would take me and what my time was worth, and said to hell with it. A great local (Santa Rosa, CA) shop did a full rebuild including torque converter for $2,500 and gave me a 3 Year/36,000 Mile warranty (most places offer 1 Year/12K).
Good luck!

Silveroak:
What a coincidence! I also own a few Benzos: 1999 S500, 1991 190e 2.6 5 spd, 1993 300e 2.8.
My interior is the light tan but you could call mine rat fur as well, but not due to the color, but due to previous owners lack of care - my gain their loss. I paid $600.00 for it and I like to work on cars as a hobby and basically to kill time and to stay out of trouble from "she who must be obeyed". I found a salvage yard that has a used trannie for sale for $350 which I will probably pick up this weekend. Mileage on it? I do not know but the guy told me that they had checked it, and it appeared solid - well, will see. I did feel pretty good about it and the guy came across as being pretty honest. At least I will get the Burb on the road - for a while. I will post a picture of the burb all washed up and clean. Funny, the individual that I bought from wants to buy it back after I fix it because they have seen how well I take care of my Benzos.
Keep you posted. I may do a DIY on removing and re-install in the trannie on the Burb.
