Default 02 Suburban, Died on interstate, now won't start

I just purchased this vehicle and I was driving 75 for about an hour taking it home and all of a sudden it died, the battery light on the dash came on and I pulled over. After that, plenty of crank but no start. I checked relays and fuses and found nothing blown. I replaced the fuel pump, same result, no start. I have cycling the key and can't hear the pump running. Where should I look to fix this problem? After browsing around, it seems like I may need to check fuel pressure. I have the kit, but where do I connect to under the hood? I also saw to double check spark so I am going to put my tester on and see if I have that. Sorry, I am not much of a mechanic. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

You can try sraying some gas or starter fluid into the throttle body to see if it runs for a few seconds. If it does not then it is not a fuel issue. If it does then you can look at the fuel pump.

This is a great way of isolating whether a non-start issue (when the engine cranks OK) is spark or fuel related. Always a great first step.

I appreciate the help. I did that and at first it didn't do anything. I went over all fuses and found 2-3 blown (ecm1 which I hoped would cure it, it did not, horn, and cigar). I replaced and no luck. I tried more starter fluid and it fired up for about a second. I tested codes and had nothing, then again about 20 mins later it showed code P0452 which im not sure how its related. I tried to fire up again only a couple minutes after putting starting fluid and it fired up for about a second. It appears I have a fuel issue. Any idea where to go from here? I cycled the key and "burped" the tank to no avail and can't here the pump starting.

Do a fuel pressure test. You probably need to change the fuel pump.

Agreed, it's more than likely the pump. Similar thing happened to me with the Silverado. When pumps go, they GO. No spitting and sputtering, they go NOW.
And it will act like it wants to sputter while cranking. It seems the pump has just enough oomf behind it to get a few pounds built up just for a short time, just
enough to sputter.

And also, bad new pumps are more common than I thought. Had 2 bad ones myself. But, this is just my experience with it.

Since I had already replaced the fuel pump and did not hear any noise when turning the key to the on position, I decided to test power to the pump with a multimeter. I had power going to the pump. I went and purchased a pump locally and installed it. Walla, problem fixed. The one I purchased on Amazon was junk/defective right out of the box. Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it.

I spoke too soon. I attempted to go get a tank of fresh fuel and she started up and died once I put it into drive. Checked ECM1 fuse and blown. I replaced it, started her up again, and put it into drive, made it maybe .5 seconds and died again. Something tells me there was good reason to put this car on auction. So after some internet searching, I am off to try to find a short/ground/melted wires that would cause that fuse to blow.

Now that I think about it, I did find it blown AFTER installing the first fuel pump that was defective out of the box apparently. Now I think my original fuel pump was probably fine and I am just an idiot who didn't checked all the fuses.

I'm thinking the problem the whole time is going to be some cooked wiring but we will see. The second problem is me jumping the gun AND purchasing a cheap POS fuel pump off Amazon. I learn something every day and now know how to change the fuel pump on an 02 suburban.

Good luck.
You're no idiot, I'm sure most of us have been there at one time. Including me.
