Greetings from Oregon. 2004 Tahoe XLT,,,,,has been fine for a long time. 1GNEK13T14J265965, 112,000 miles. For the last month cluster could show dark with no info and gauge pointers all to the left.....or, the readings from trip to trip can be off by a plus or minus 10-30 miles or more when Range display is on. Fuel gauge is erratic but other readings for oil, electrical and coolant always read OK. Sometimes, if display is dark....I can get it going by turning the spring loaded dial on the exterior lamp display section on the lower left area of the cluster. I read a little about soldering....but I am a automotive Clutz and will go thru local Chev dealer.

He will remove cluster for serial# and send away for new one. $600 installed was rough estimate. I forgot to ask if it would be OEM or remanufactured. I saw on here, just now, about a 2007 factory recall of clusters. I will ask dealer about this, but what do you think are my chances ? I tried to check the ground connection from battery to frame but the battery ground had a rubber sleeve and I did not want to fool with it. Today, after chatting with the dealer and starting for home....... the display was dark.....so I tapped on the spring loaded dial area....and the display came on. Turning the dial as before did not work.

I see the dealer for cluster info on 7/11......any comments will be appreciated. Thank you.......

 

I'd assume you got this fixed already but I had the same issue with my 2004, known cluster issue. ISS Automotive in washington state, rebuilt cluster, send them VIN And mileage and they send you one, plug and play, send them old one back, $260.

 

Sorry, I forgot to advise outcome. Total was $560. Reman cluster. Works fine. Thank you.......
