Default 2007 Tahoe passenger mirror problem

Hello all,

A few days ago, I noticed my passeger side view mirror wasnt returning to its programmed position after I moved the vehicle from reverse, it would just stay stuck in its down position (I have it set to tilt down when in reverse). If you were to give the top of the mirror a push till its at a certain position then you can use the driver's controls to move the mirror, but once you move it down to a certain position it wont come back up unless you push on it by hand. does the motor need to be replaced? are there some kind of gears to be replaced? hopefully someone has has this issue and found a solution. Thanks in advance!

Might just need to be opened up and cleaned....that and taking a look inside might give you a better insight as to what the issue is..

I think they have some kind of a slip clutch so when it hits the limit stops, the motor won't stall and overheat. Maybe that's the problem, the clutch is slipping.

I would suggest having your vehicle checked out by your local dealership. You may still be under the 3 year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty which would cover you for this fix, under normal circumstances. I hope that helps you and if you encounter any issues with this feel free to contact me through this forum.

I am actually employed by General Motors to monitor this site as part of the Social Media/Customer Service department. I am here to address customer issues and questions on this forum and a few others along with the rest of my coworkers here. We are also on Facebook, Twitter and up to 40 different forums concerning GM products (felt I should explain my presence here after all this time). I did recently put a picture of my vehicle up under my profile for all to see. I hope that suffices your appetite for pictures of my vehicle. I apologize for the picture quality. My boss and I went out to our parking lot and took the picture with his cell phone.

Go into the DIC programming. If you have it, it'll explain how to energize it.

Thanks Jeff for taking the time to elaborate, I believe it bodes well for GM to take an interest in customers and their concerns and interest at this level. It would be my hope that GM is able to take the information and use it for real improvements.
