Default 2007 Tahoe Tail Light Assembly Replacement Problem

Hi All,

So I broke the passenger side tail light lens and just received the replacement assembly (including bulbs for $82!).

Was able to easily remove the broken assembly and traced the wiring back to the harness to under the rear bumper.

Then the problem. For the life of me, I cannot disconnect the harness that connects the assembly to the car's electrical system. I feel like an idiot, but before I tug too hard and break something, can someone please tell me how to disconnect the connection? Any pictures would be great...

Thanks!
John

Welcome to the forum.

Why can't you just remove the sockets from the old assy and put them in the new one?

Wow. I feel dumb. I will give that a try. Appreciate the slap to the side of my head.

Default Tail light removal

I am trying to remove and replace my driver side tail light. I can disconnect the wiring and have unscrewed the tail light , but there are black plastic pieces that are snapped into the frame of the car that either don't come out or should come off of my replacement tail light assembly. Can anyone provide assistance?

Welcome to the forum.

The black plastic inserts must stay w/ the holes in the body. If one or more stays w/ the taillite assy, then pull it off and reinsert it into the body. Make installation of the taillite assy easier.

What would be the best way to get the black plastic inserts off of the replacement tail light assembly?
