Default 2007 Tahoe tank vent valve

Gas tank was not taking gas when empty so I changed that vent valve assemble above the spare tire. That didn't fix the problem.Any other ideas? Tahoe 2007 Z71 5.3LThanks.

Disconnect the line on the purge valve at the engine. If charcoal pellets come out, the charcoal canister is bad, and the lines will need to be flushed.

Thanks Sisko200 and GL.I have read that whole thread twice. After the tank vent valve didn't work I blew out the vent line from the filler neck to the charcoal canister.Today I tried again today (tank was 3/4 full) to fill it up .Same problem.I am trying to do the easy things first.I will check the purge vale line next like GL said. Thanks again.

disconnect the line from the tank to the cannister and do a fill up. if its fills the vent line is still blocked.....the line from the tank to the cannister out the vent solenoid out to the vent filter must be clear.

blow thru the cannister...any restriction?

Tech2,I didn't have time to do your idea tonight but I will on Saturday.GLKustom,I did your idea tonight.I disconnected the line from the charcoal canister to the engine purge valve while at the gas station.Seven or eight bits of charcoal fell in my hand. With the line disconnected it seemed a little easier to fill it up, but not much.Might have been my imagination.I guess the charcoal canister has come apart.I guess the best thing to do is to replace the canister and blow out all the lines while they are disconnected.

Well, update on my 07 Tahoe on getting the tank to take gas to help anybody else.Saturday I managed to get all 3 of the vent lines off the charcoal canister without breaking any of them.As soon as the vent line from the tank was disconnected charcoal was falling out.I dropped the canister and charcoal was pouring out of it.The line from the tank had a lot of pellets in it I just kept blowing air in till no more pellets came out.I put everything back together and went to the gas station. The tank was at 3/4 but it filled up normally.Tonight my daughter came by with 1/4 tank.At the gas station it filled up normally.Long story short, drop the canister, blow out the large line from the tank and that should fix it.

Well, it was a while back but I don't think I disconnected any tank lines. I know I didn't drop the tank. I did disconnect the purge line up in the engine compartment and blow air into it.
