2009 Tahoe LT Instrument function
We have a '09 Tahoe LT that has an issue with the instrument cluster. When we start the truck, there is a 50/50 chance that the instrument cluster will not energize. If we drive for 15 minutes, or so, stop the truck, remove the keys out from the ignition. When we finish shopping or having a coffee and return to the Tahoe, restart the engine, like as not the instrument cluster functions normally.
The truck has been to two dealerships and neither has been able to resolve the issue. It seems to me that there is a correlation between temperature and the haphazard instrument function. But that is only a guess and at $150 per hour of dealership shop time. We are running out of patience and money. There must be a module that controls the cluster, but it seems as if the dealerships are not aware of it's existence. The last dealership told us that they could only offer to direct one of their technicians to begin tearing into the wiring harness and keep at it until the problem was discovered.
I am completely mystified and believe that someone must surely have an answer.
