Check engine light code P0449

check engine light ison,autozone says code is P0449 this is whattheir ticket says:
The PCM has determined that a malfunction exists in the electrical circuit for the vent valve/solenoid in the evaporative emission control system.
Definition:
EVAP (Evaporative Emission System) purge/vent solenoid circuit condition
Explanation:
The solenoids and system wiring are monitored for opens or shorts
Probable Causes
1- Purge or vent solenoids defective
2- Check connevtor and wiring
3- Fuel saturated vapor canister
4- Failed EVAP vent solenoid
any info and help is appreciated.

Turned out to be the vent solenoid valve, 30 bucks at the dealer and i installed it in 10 minutes, thanks in2pro for the info [/align]

If you have a Tahoe, it will likely be attached ot the EVAP canister near your gas tank. I have attached a few images that should help you locate it:

I doubt it since it is in the evap. emission loop. Could be dirty injectors, dirty throttle body, dirty idle air control. Try running a couple of bottles of Techron thru it.

Guys,
I have looked at the threads and wanted to ask for your help! I have a Chevy Avalanche 2007 with the P0449. Looks like it is either a gas cap ($35) at Pohanka Chevrolet (not likely), or the EVAP Canister Vent Valve ($42). Both in stock. They do not have a manual but highlighted Helm Inc. adn 1-800-782-4356 to get it.
anyway, I will inspect the gas cap. Should I replace it either way. In other words, can there be a problem that's not visible.
I am not a mechanic by any means. Is the EVAP Canister Vent Valve easy to replace?
