Chime not working on 2008 Tahoe
The seatbelt / key in ignition / backup assist chime on my 2008 Tahoe is barely audible. It works properly about 5% of the time and the rest of the time, It's so faint that it almost can't be heard. Any ideas ?

These are just suggestions, it is not a diagnosis. If this is a troublesome issue for you, consider having the vehicle inspected by a certified technician. They will be able to assist you further after an inspection of the vehicle.Louis

The chime does go through the speakers, might want to check the connections at the back of the radio as CCS suggested... Don't just push it in or wiggle, fully removed the connection, inspect for corrosion maybe even wipe them with an alcohol soaked q-tip and re-install.
You just need to replace the speakers.
