Default Day Running Lights or Not on a '96?

I have read that 1996 suburbans do and don't have DRL's. If mine does, they don't work. Any definite answer on this?

The service manual shows that the 1996 Suburban does have DRLs. Do you have an indicator light in your instrument cluster?

If you go to www.mygmlink.com and register your vehicle, you can view/download a user's manual.

What does it look like and where is it in the cluster? If it is set up with its own fuse, and it was pulled out to defeat it, would the indicator light still work?

Go to the link I gave you. Download the owners manual. The owners manual will show the cluster layout. Also in the manual, check out the fuses and relays locations in the IP fuse box and the under hood fuse box. The daytime running lights circuit has fuse and relay and maybe more.

They wan me to pay for the manual. Screw that. I already have the glovebox manual. It talks about the DRL's. Anybody know if it is a separate fuse? Which lights are supposed to come on? is it the yellow rectangular ones under the headlights? On my '96 Saturn SL2 the actual headlights come on.

I did that and there is nothing for running lights or anything similar to that. The glove box manual shows it. I wonder if the trucks had them but not the Suburbans as they seem to lag a year behind in other "upgrades" too.

Default rocket science bs

Ya 96 Burbs have them and you have to have a degree in rocket science to fix them i hope you have a manuel and a wireing diagram dlr is automatic when the ignition switch is ON ,And the parking break DISINGAGED And headlight switch is OFF They are your low beam headlights. Power is supplied from fuse 4 (gauges) when ignition switch os ON To the DLR Module located under the knee panel center councol its a black box with fins and to the coil (POWER) side of the DLR relay located on the bottom of the convience center under left side of councol. here we go !thats your power source! now if the lights are off and P brake disengaged the DLR Module will then supply (GROUND) to the DLR Relay coil (GROUND) side when the relay is activated the contacts close and voltage is applied though DLR/FOG fuse 15 and the closed contacts of the DLR relay to your low beam headlights . YA YA A REAL PAIN NOT DONE YET ! With all that done and working voltage is suppied through Fuse 4 (gauges) to the DLR indicator The DLR Module will supply the ground and it lights up SO you have different components that all have to work together the light switch, the parking brake,if the DLR recieves a GROUND signal from either of these then it willremove the ground from the ground side of the DLR relay shutting off the Lowbeams Try testing each coil positive and ground side of the relay with a test light and appling the parking brake thenreleasing it then the headlights and also the ignition if its not the relay then it could be your module has gone south for the winter ! good hunting been there done that
